The iPhone is missing a lot of features that other phone have had for years. Here’s a run down of the things Apple need to either sort out themselves or at least accept apps that do it for them.
1. Un-retarded Bluetooth
I’ll go out one night with some friends to a couple of clubs, take a picture and someone will say “Bluetooth it to me”, it’s then up to me to describe that my phone is retarded and doesn’t know how to send or receive files from other phone… but if you want I can email them to you… oh you don’t check your emails that much? Facebook? MySpace… I already said I can’t send files to you!
2. MMS
Nope, I can’t send it via MMS either… sorry! But hey at least if someone sends me a file, I’ll get a text message with a link and a password to check it using Safari browser… I can also save it in firmware 2.0, but otherwise, I’m outta luck. Sorry!
3. Video Recording
Oh, ermm mind if I borrow your phone to record a video quickly? That’s right, my phone has 16gb of storage with like 3gb free, a pretty decent 2 megapixel camera, but it can’t do video. Sorry, I really am gonna have to borrow your N95 quickly!
4. Flash Video
There’s a great video on your Facebook? Awesome, I’ll check it out… oh wait, we’re gonna have to find the nearest computer, because even though Apple say that I have the full internet on my phone, and I now have 3G, I can’t view flash files… what’s flash? It’s what your video is encoded in… but if you upload it to YouTube and I wait a day or two for it to get converted to Quicktime format, I will be able to watch it! Yayy!
5. Better Camera
Ok, to be honest the 2 Megapixel camera is pretty good quality, but not good enough. They have phones in Asia that do 12 Megapixels! Most phones these days do between 3.2 and 5 Megapixels, but I’m stuck with 2 Megapixels. Oh and I don’t have a flash, so it needs to be really light for me to take a picture, or I can grab someone elses phone, put the flash on it, and then take a picture with mine.
6. A really loud loud speaker!
Considering the iPhone is pitched as a media phone, and almost a laptop replacement, the loud speaker is pretty crappy. I want it louder (it’s only slightly louder in the 3G version) and I want Stereo Sound… this can’t be fixed with an App, but god damned Apple… sort it out! My 3 year old Sony Ericsson has a better speaker than the iPhone, along with my 4 year old Samsung!
